In 2018, the Animal Protective Association (APA) of Missouri, with the help of The Rome Group, launched a Planned Giving Advisory Council consisting of estate planning attorneys, financial advisors, and wealth managers. This Council was tasked with helping formalize and support a planned giving program for the APA. Since the inception of this Council, the APA has launched a comprehensive planned giving program that has helped the organization secure and realize over $10 million in planned gifts. This session will provide practical and replicable details about the approach the APA took when developing and implementing a successful planned giving program and will include an overview of planned giving, an introduction to basic terminology and an overview of several easy-to-implement planned giving vehicles. Participants will also learn to identify, assess, and cultivate prospective donors to build their own planned giving program.
