Empower, Support, + Mentor: How to Support Black Women in the Workplace

About the Workshop: 

Do you mentor, support, or supervise black women? Are you a black woman that aspires to climb the ladder to achieve leadership in your field? In this session, we will unpack the lived experiences of black women navigating barriers, challenges, and oppression in their climb to leadership. Through hands-on engagement and small group discussion you will leave this session empowered with a roadmap to support rising black women leaders through strategic leadership development, empowerment, and mentoring.

This is an in-person workshop in St. Louis, MO. 

 

About the Presenter: 

Dr. Ashley Storman (she/her) is a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholar, Practitioner, Educator, and Author that identifies as a Christian, Wife, and Mother. Dr. Storman has over 14 years of higher education and human resource experience in the following: recruitment, retention, leadership development, mentor programs, affinity groups, education, consulting, teaching, and strategic collaboration to implement programs and strategies to assist marginalized communities, educate allies, and build inclusive environments.

Dr. Storman is also a published author with research that focuses on the leadership development of African American women who aspire to be leaders in the academy. Dr. Storman is a fellow of the St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative Leadership Program, a Board Member for the American Advertising Federation STL and the National Association for Student Personnel Administrators Center for Women, a committee member for Girls Inc. of St. Louis, and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
