It’s a practice that every ethical nonprofit aspires to have, but what does “good governance” really look like?
In this practical workshop for organizations of every size, nonprofit executive directors, CEOs, Officers and individual Board members will explore the key principles of good governance, assess their organization’s strengths and opportunities for growth, gain new strategies for employing good governance principles in your organization’s culture and ultimately create an action plan for immediate improvements.

About the Presenter:
MARISSA Q. PAINE, MSW is Principal and CEO of The Painefree Coaching & Consulting Group, a leadership and organizational effectiveness company providing coaching, training and facilitation, strategic planning and change management services that build better leaders, stronger teams and healthier organizations.
A public relations executive turned social worker, Marissa brings nearly twenty years of diverse corporate, nonprofit and faith-based experience to her work including serving as executive director of several health and human service organizations, managing the PR account of a Fortune 250 company and developing a federally-funded demonstration program providing grants, training and technical assistance to more than 70 youth-serving organizations in the Greater St. Louis metropolitan region. Under her leadership, The Haven of Grace, a residential facility for homeless, pregnant women received the National Association of Social Workers Missouri Chapter’s Agency of the Year Award and the Focus St. Louis What’s Right with the Region Award.
Marissa is a passionate leader with a tireless work ethic, a relentless dedication to quality and a heart to serve. Marissa currently maintains a coaching roster of emerging leaders, middle managers and CEOs from diverse sectors. Her consulting practice includes work with organizations ranging from childcare to healthcare with budgets from zero to $20+ million.
Marissa is a Board Source®Certified Governance Trainer, a Six Seconds®Emotional Intelligence Practitioner and a Certified True Colors® Facilitator. Marissa holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Webster University and a master’s degree in social work from Washington University in St. Louis. She completed her ICF certified coaching credential through the School of Leadership at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
