2020 MCN Annual Conference

Welcome to 2020, a year that is nothing but change and challenge. A year in which a return to some storied before-time is not possible nor just. A year in which dual pandemics, one in its infancy, another over 400 years old, implore us to center Black lives and collectively imagine and lay fresh footing for a world where everyone thrives and our interconnectedness is embraced.

2 Keynote Addresses 
Powerful Together: Collective Action at the County Level
Hennepin County Commissioners Angela Conley and Irene Fernando will share the stage with interviewer Liz Kuoppala, Executive Director of Mahube-Otwa Community Action Partnership to discuss how the commissioners have intersected with nonprofits throughout their careers, where they see the nonprofit sector as participants in imagining solutions for housing and racism, and shedding light on the power of county boards. This conversation will actively draw connections to county concerns across the state and beyond, focusing on how nonprofits can engage their commissioners.

Choose sessions that best fit your professional path and interests. Breakout Session topics include: DEI, Evaluation / Programming, Finance / Operations / Legal, Fundraising, Human Resources / Wellness, Leadership / Governance / Change Management, Marketing / Communications / Technology, Public Policy / Advocacy
Facilitated Networking Discussions
This year, in addition to breakout sessions, we’re offering facilitated networking sessions. Join your peers for a lightly guided conversation on a specific topic. Each 30-minute networking session will have a facilitator to kick things off by offering some grounding content and open-ended questions. The hope is that the conversations started in these quick gatherings will continue throughout the conference and after we have all said goodbye.
Wellness and Cheer Offerings
Invite your brain to be still, take a dance break, or engage your senses with poetry and music. This year we invite you to take a moment to treat yourself to some self-care and joy as the conference rolls along.
Dip into an on-demand yoga offering. Take in a multi-sensory experience. Prefer live experiences? You will have the opportunity to attend a live poetry reading with Heid E. Erdrich, or move your body during a live dance class.
Access to all breakout and keynote session recordings
Recordings will remain online for two months following the conferences for participants to view (excluding the wellness and cheer and facilitated networking offerings, which are live experiences)

How to register:

Registrations go through the MCN website. Create an account to receive a registration confirmation and payment receipt automatically. You’ll also receive reminder emails with your PheedLoop (the virtual conference experience provider) access information. After the conference, participants will receive a follow-up email with a conference evaluation.
