DESCRIPTION:About the Workshop: \nThis workshop will review the critical impact and importance that diversity can and should have in any workplace. We will discuss the key components of the supervisory relationship that inform diverse perspectives and approaches including; establishing and maintaining trust\, setting expectations\, comfort in difficult dialogue\, and identifying appropriate boundaries. Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion are common touchpoints and buzzwords and in this workshop we will highlight common pitfalls and obstacles to creating and sustaining a successful relationship grounded in our work and what the terms mean. In closing we will discuss what underscores the challenges often inherent but rarely addressed in diversity presentations and actions in the nonprofit space. \n \nAbout the Presenter: Trent Ball\nTrent Ball is Associate Provost for Equity and Access at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) and provides leadership and management of the Academic Support Centers (ASCs). Ball is the Past Board Chair for the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE)\, Past President of The Educational Opportunity Association (EOA) and Past President of MO-KAN-NE. Currently\, Ball serves on the Ferguson Youth Initiative Board (FYI)\, The Regional Steering Committee for Homegrown St Louis\, The Board of Directors for Gene Slay’s Girls and Boys Club\, St. Louis Graduates Co-chair\, and as the TRIO and College Access Programs Representative to the CAS Standards Board of Directors. DESCRIPTION:About the Workshop: \nFew grant application questions receive more groans from grant writers than “sustainability” questions. The tendency is to write a statement about how your organization will continue to diversify your fundraising strategy while stewarding existing donors. This response could be copied and pasted into every grant proposal written by just about every nonprofit organization across the country\, but it does not help you get the grant.\nThis session will teach you new ways to think about sustainability in programs and organizations and respond to sustainability grant proposal prompts in a way that will set you apart from other applicants.  \nAbout the Presenter: Fielding Jezreel\nFielding Jezreel specializes in helping nonprofits plan and apply for federal grants. Using her passion for program planning\, Fielding helps organizations streamline their grant funding strategy and pursue federal and other nationally competed grants. She also coaches early career grant writers.\nFielding has worked in the grants field since 2013 and has raised over $40 million for nonprofits and government agencies. She has a Master of Social Work degree from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. DESCRIPTION:About the Workshop: \nRemote work and remote management have become commonplace in the nonprofit space\, and although we are experiencing a “return to work” mindset\, our new normal includes a hybrid model of remote and in-person work as well as managing in the remote space.  “Pivot”\, “jumping into a Zoom meeting’ and increased challenges in supervising remote staff members are all issues supervisors are navigating as we remain in this space.  This workshop will focus on working with and supporting remote working teams\, addressing the hybrid model of work and what is happening as we continue to monitor the impact of the pandemic in the remote work world and serve our staff and clients/program participants.\n \nAbout the Presenter: Trent Ball\nTrent Ball currently serves as Associate Provost at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) and provides leadership and management of the units in the Academic Support Centers. Mr. Ball works closely with the leadership of the Division on pivotal projects and initiatives being spearheaded in Academic Affairs that the Academic Support Centers (ASCs) administrative team actively contributes to\, such as Southeast’s Title III grant\, focusing on the success of students from low income communities attending Southeast and integrating the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) into our work with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC)  He assists in the development of the University’s Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Plan; provides diversity training and outreach for the academic and administrative units across the University to develop and implement initiatives that focus on the recruitment and retention of minority faculty and staff\, as well as underrepresented student populations.

Participants will learn how to identify appropriate funders\, how to verify the funder is a good fit\, and how to outreach the funder for more information. Participants will leave class with a list of potential funders.
