SUMMARY:Self Care Summer Series (Session 3)
DESCRIPTION:Self-Care Summer Series\nSummer time and the livin is…still hard? Let’s make the most of this summer to focus on US and what we need to stay well while doing our important and sometimes draining work. This series of brief\, one-hour seminars are designed to be taken as stand-alone sessions or you can really sizzle this summer by attending all three! \n  \nSession One: Boundary Boosting Power Hour! \nThursday\, June 13 at 11:30 a.m. \nSetting and maintaining healthy boundaries is one of the most effective strategies to increase our well-being. Workshop attendees will review and practice the big hits of boundary setting: boundaries with our co-workers\, our clients\, and our community. Say “yes” to this workshop\, so you can say NO when you need to in respectful and caring ways. \n  \nSession Two: Affordable Self-Care: Taking Care of Yourself without Breaking the Bank \nThursday\, July 11 at 11:30 a.m. \nMany self-care strategies promoted on our media streams are pricey and can create additional stress. Sustaining ourselves and seeking wellness doesn’t have to be expensive! In this workshop\, we’ll explore low or no cost strategies to help increase our wellbeing this summer and beyond. Bring your own ideas and we can learn together. \n  \nSession Three: Making Self-Care Stick: Creating a Well-being Plan that You LOVE! \nThursday\, August 8 at 11:30 a.m. \nThe best self-care plans don’t help us if after a few days…weeks…or months\, the plan fades away. In this session\, we will create individualized self-care strategies designed to fit into our lives and bring us joy\, wellbeing\, and compassion satisfaction in a real way that can last into the future. \n  \nSessions will take place the second Thursdays of the month (June-August) from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. You can register for each session for $25 or all three for $60. \n  \nAbout the Presenter \nKatie Ciorba VonDeLinde\, MSW\, LCSW\, is an energetic social worker\, educator\, and activist working on issues of survivor-centered intimate partner violence (IPV) advocacy\, the intersection of economic justice and IPV\, and ethical social work practice. MOCAN is a network of institutions\, organizations\, and professionals committed to greater equity in college and career access\, affordability\, and completion. DESCRIPTION:About the Workshop:  \nTeambuilding\, Teamwork and Collective Impact are requiring leaders and managers to negotiate the challenges of deadlines\, projects\, and people. Inherent in growth and movement is conflict and often we work to resolve conflict without developing strategies and approaches grounded in experience and supportive training. This session will address and review the key principles of conflict resolution; assistance in preparing to address conflict; negotiating skills (because resolutions are rooted in negotiating and compromise); guidance on designing a conflict resolution plan; and general steps in mediation that lead to clear resolution of typical conflicts in the workplace. \nThis is a virtual workshop.\n \n  \nAbout the Presenter: Trent Ball \nTrent Ball serves as the inaugural Senior Director\, Postsecondary Equity and Attainment\, for the Missouri College and Career Attainment Network (MOCAN). MOCAN exists to ensure Missouri students who could most benefit from education beyond high school have what they need to earn a credential leading to a rewarding career. MOCAN is built on the success of two prior initiatives: Missouri College Access Network and St. Louis Graduates. MOCAN is a network of institutions\, organizations\, and professionals committed to greater equity in college and career access\, affordability\, and completion. By working for change at the institutional and systems levels\, MOCAN aspires to create a postsecondary education system where outcomes are no longer predictable by race or socio-economic status.  \nAs Senior Director\, Mr. Ball leads MOCAN’s postsecondary attainment strategy including the Postsecondary Equity Network (PEN)\, as well as the organization’s research agenda and advocacy work. Prior to joining MOCAN\, Trent retired from Southeast Missouri State University where he served as Associate Provost and provided leadership and management of the Academic Support Centers\, including Educational Access Programs\, Learning Assistance Programs\, and the TRIO Programs (McNair Scholars and Student Support Services).\n  \n\nRegister Now!

This conversation will actively draw connections to county concerns across the state and beyond\, focusing on how nonprofits can engage their commissioners.\n25+ Breakout Sessions\nChoose sessions that best fit your professional path and interests. Breakout Session topics include: DEI\, Evaluation / Programming\, Finance / Operations / Legal\, Fundraising\, Human Resources / Wellness\, Leadership / Governance / Change Management\, Marketing / Communications / Technology\, Public Policy / Advocacy\nFacilitated Networking Discussions\nThis year\, in addition to breakout sessions\, we’re offering facilitated networking sessions. Join your peers for a lightly guided conversation on a specific topic. Each 30-minute networking session will have a facilitator to kick things off by offering some grounding content and open-ended questions. The hope is that the conversations started in these quick gatherings will continue throughout the conference and after we have all said goodbye.\nWellness and Cheer Offerings\nInvite your brain to be still\, take a dance break\, or engage your senses with poetry and music. This year we invite you to take a moment to treat yourself to some self-care and joy as the conference rolls along.\nDip into an on-demand yoga offering. Take in a multi-sensory experience. Prefer live experiences? You will have the opportunity to attend a live poetry reading with Heid E. Erdrich\, or move your body during a live dance class.\nAccess to all breakout and keynote session recordings\nRecordings will remain online for two months following the conferences for participants to view (excluding the wellness and cheer and facilitated networking offerings\, which are live experiences) \nHow to register:\nRegistrations go through the MCN website.
