At the core of this culture is the ability to synthesize diverse strengths into effective team action. This strength-based approach is critical to creating an environment that develops strong leaders who execute a shared\, perpetual vision. In this six hour interactive\, instructional and discussion based workshop participants will:\n \n\nBuild awareness about the stages of team development\nLearn to map a strategy to build an effective team\nBuild self-awareness about individual strengths\nLearn how personal and group processes benefit from differing individual talents\nLearn dynamics of different communication preferences\nBuild capacity to develop leadership skills in others and offer resources for additional leadership training\n\n\nPrior to the workshop\, each participant must complete the following assessments:\n \n\nOnline Strength Finder assessment (by Tom Rath)\nOnline Myers Briggs assessment\n\nAssessment links will be emailed after registration is completed. \n\nAbout the Presenter: \nJane Klieve\nPresident\, Klieve Group\,LLC\nJane has more than 25 years of leadership development and human resource management experience. Her company\, Klieve Group\, LLC\, specializes in leadership development\, group facilitation\, Board governance\, and transition management.  Clients include nonprofit\, corporate and religious organizations in the bi-state region and beyond.  She has served as a key consultant with Nonprofit Services Center for the last ten years.\nJane brings a 360◦ perspective to her work as a nonprofit governance consultant.  She has served on the boards of many organizations and state commissions and has served as president or an officer many times.  In addition\, she has served as the executive director of a nonprofit.  This first person experience is complimented by professional training.  Jane has completed programs in Advanced Board Consulting\, Assessment of Governing Boards and in the Governance as Leadership model through BoardSource.\nIn addition to her consulting practice\, Jane is an Adjunct Professor in the Nonprofit Management & Leadership Program at University of Missouri St. Louis.  She teaches one of the core courses in the program:  Staff Management Issues in Nonprofits.\nJane has a B.A. in Psychology from Northwestern University and an M.A. in Human Resource Management/Business Administration from the University of Iowa.

DESCRIPTION:Organizational Systems: Leading from the Middle       9:00 AM – 12:30 PM\n\nIn order to survive in these turbulent times\, organizations need competent\, effective\, and empowered middle management. Yet those in middle positions commonly report that their jobs are demanding and stressful. Leading from the Middle aims at transforming middle positions into the drivers of integrated and effective change in their organization.\nAn interactive workshop which focuses on the dilemmas\, challenges\, system power possibilities and contributions of middle positions. Participants will engage in two simulations that enable them to identify specific actions that enhance their leadership at whatever level they are in their organizations.\nParticipants will learn about the 4 spaces of Organization life (Top\, Middle\, Bottom and Customer) and learn the predictable conditions in each space\, developed by Barry Oshry\, global social scientist and founder of Power + Systems. Participants will also identify specific actions they can take to increase their human system power in each of these spaces.\nAbout the Facilitator: \n\nKevin Purcell\nOrganization Development Consultant\nPower + Systems\nKevin is a consultant for Power + Systems. He has worked internally for both Microsoft (Seattle) and Memorial Health Systems (Springfield\, Ill) as Director of Organization Development.\nHe has conducted this workshop for the past 25 years around the world. Kevin’s non-profit experience includes working with Planned Parenthood\, Illinois Arts Council\, and founding two theater companies that are thriving today. He is currently Senior Consultant for Power + Systems and also Adjunct Faculty in the MBA program at University of Illinois-Springfield.
