About the Presenter
Emily Laurie:
With 16 years of marketing experience, she earned her degree in communications with a minor in political science from the University of Missouri. During her college years, she interned in Washington D.C., assisting Congressman Ike Skelton. Later, she obtained her Master of Arts Degree in Communications from Drury University. Through her professional journey, she garnered recognition, including the “20 Under 30” award from 417 Magazine and the “40 Under 40” award from the Springfield Business Journal, while serving as the marketing director for Hogan Land Title Company. Additionally, Emily was honored as Affiliate of the Year by the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors.
In 2020, she embarked on her entrepreneurial path with the launch of Onie and Sky, where they crafted over 10,000 custom jewelry pieces for global distribution and served numerous retailers. Giving back to causes like melanoma research and local nonprofits was integral to the mission. After selling Onie and Sky, she shifted focus to Laurie Marketing, now known as Scattered Marketing, which was established in 2017. Currently, Emily contributes to Advertising Plus, aiding business owners, marketing directors, and nonprofits in designing custom merchandise. Beyond work, she finds joy in family life with her husband Spencer, and their three children Sloane, Skylar, and Jackson.
Andrea Mueller:
Andrea’s experience in social media management and strategy started in 2013 when she was put in a new role overseeing driver recruitment advertising and marketing at the largest refrigerated trucking company in North America. Although she had zero experience with this responsibility other than personal use of social media, she quickly dove into research and learning mode, and she fell in love with the power and impact of social media.
Andrea handled the entire social media strategy, content creation, communication, and growth for over 6 years by herself. Due to the scale of the company and the potential opportunity of their social channels, she learned how to stay on top of ever-changing platforms and optimize her efforts. Thanks to this experience, she continued to expand her skill set, knowledge of platforms, and engagement strategies. Andera also focused on utilizing the organic (aka free) side of social to reduce advertising costs for the company and build continued traffic and interest in their corporate website. On the side, she has also helped a few clients elevate their social media and build content strategies for them in the Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube spaces.
