Preparing a grant application or proposal is more than just asking for money to fund your organization and its programs.  Private Foundations, Corporations and Governmental Agencies want to invest their $$$ in an organization’s programs that fit their own goals and in projects that should in all likelihood succeed.   You’ll  review each essential element of a successful grant proposal and review with Kent some excellent examples of funded proposals that illustrates putting these principles into practice.
You will also take away examples of these successful grants and proven techniques – that  you can use as models for you to develop/write your own proposals that are competitive and have an excellent chance of being funded.
About the Presenter:
Kent Hornberger is a Certified Grant Professional with over 40 years of experience in not for profit management and fund raising.
Kent currently serves of the national board of the Grant Professionals Certification Institute that is dedicated to strengthening the nonprofit sector’s ability to pursue and maintain public and private sector funding by promoting competency and ethical practices within the field of grantsmanship.
Kent is immediate Past-President of the St. Louis Regional Chapter of the GPA and served for three years as the Chairman of the GPA’s Higher Education Special Interest Group. He has held leadership positions in other professional organizations including the Association for Fundraising Professionals, and the Jesuit Advancement Association.
Kent has taught courses on the principles and practices of grant writing/management, critical analysis skills, communications, ethics and project management at several St. Louis area Colleges and Universities. He has been a frequent workshop presenter at both regional and national conferences of the Grant Professionals Association, the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, the Council for the Advancement of Support for Education, the Jesuit Advancement Association, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. He has also served on the board of numerous not-for-profit organizations including Catholic Family Services and EarthDance Farms.
